So my A/C just up and quit working. I noticed an odd A/C odor in the cab. Reached up and the fan was blowing air but it was not cold air. I cycled the blower speed and it did nothing. I then cycled the blower on and off. Now the blower wont even come on! I will admit that I was working in an incredibly dusty area and had not blown any dirt/dust out of the engine compartment. I will clean all that crap out as soon as I get back to the site.
What I did do was check every fuse on the machine that was visible. All were good. I did not know there were some on the firewall so I’ll look at those as well. It appeared that the 3 relays on the front of the motor were fine because they didn’t look burned and smelled fine.
I’ll also check the low pressure fitting on the A/C unit to rule that out. My question is this... why do I not have ANY heat or A/C or even a blower fan now? Is there an in-line fuse somewhere that I may have blown?

The odd odor coming from the AC was probably the compressor not running, causing the remaining water on the evaporator coils to evaporate into the cab air (vs drip off as condensate). Was it musty/moldy smelling, or a burning smell (electrical)?

I recently has the AC tensioner pulley bearing fail on my 2555CL HST and talk about a smell! The plastic pulley stopped spinning, but the belt didn't care. It melted it in half, and the smell of burning plastic/rubber was attention-getting. I just pulled the belt off (it doesn't drive anything else) and have a pulley/bearing on order.

As for the failure of the blower shortly after, that is odd. Did you have the compressor switched to "ON" after the cool air stopped? Maybe it's possible that your belt broke (you can see it best from driver's side with cowling removed), and continuing to run the blower with the compressor turned on created as current spike, ultimately popping the AC fuse? Grasping at straws, since I don't think an AC compressor clutch pulls any more current if it's not spinning... Still, that's what I'd check... Busted belt and blown AC fuse... Don't know where the AC fuse is located tho, sorry... Haven't had to replace that (yet)... knock on wood.

BTW, make sure you check your front end load bracket bolts. Mine recently loosened up and snapped. Was a complete nightmare, and I was met with "it's in the manual to check/tighten"... It's not. So do your due diligence and inspect, re-torque, and mark them with a white paint pen to see if they back off at all. Apparently this is a very common (but preventable) problem with FEL of all makes/models.
