Another plow question

I have a chance to get a Ferguson plow; 2-16C-AO-28 #2180

Can I pull this with my Massey Ferguson 1433V (33hp 4WD)?

Are parts available for this model?

Can anyone post a picture of this model plow?

Unless you have some mighty loose soil, 2X16"'s would probably be quite a load on 33hp.

Well.... it's loose but somewhat bony. I guess I'd better stick with trying to find a double 14...

i pulled a 1618 medium duty disk harrow (16 of 18 inch scalloped) with my 33hp 4wd john deere 1050 - no problem in sandy/sandy loam soil - on clay soil - you need to run it several times or bust it up with something else first.

i noticed your 4wd in the picture. the 33hp 4wd will pull like a 50hp 2wd drive tractor. don't go to light of a frame. this tractor twisted the disk harrow supporting box channel for the hanging disks because of the torque and i had to go get thicker box channel for each gang of 4 disks.

i don't know what your prospective attachment looks like but 14 inch sounds too small.

With MFWD, you probably have the TRACTION it takes to pull 2X16"'s, but it takes HP to pull them at an adaquate ground speed. Some older plows work "OK" at slower speeds (2-1/2 to 3mph) but "newer" (late 50's through 1980's models when plows "went away") plows like 4 to 5 mph due to the contour of their moldboards, ect.

16" plows work best at operating depths of 7" to 9". (+ or - 1" of 1/2 the plows width) 2X16"'s actually move more dirt than 3X12"'s at their proper depth of operation. You can always operate a plow a touch shallow from "ideal" depth, but sometimes results can suffer. (especially when plowing sod)
