Coroner Says SC Man Dies in Farm Accident

TOWNVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- A 61-year-old South Carolina man has died after being pulled into a hay baler.

Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore said James Boleman Jr. died Friday. Shore said Boleman died from asphyxiation and massive injuries.

Friend Tom Dobbins told the television station that Boleman had worked for years as the head of purchasing at Clemson University and was a member of the Townville Fire Department.

Dobbins said Boleman enjoyed working with young people.

My tractor dealer lost one of his brothers that way a few weeks ago. He (the brother) was having a problem with a round baler and opened the back hatch to see what was going on (while the baler was running). He failed to latch the hatch up and a hydraulic hose failed dropping the hatch and shoving him into the baler.
I'll bet his wife (who found him) has nightmares over that gruesome event.
Machinery isn't very forgiving of mistakes.
