Anti-clockwise or clockwise meter?

Due to a mix up of the parts listing I ordered an anti-clockwise meter (from the other side of the world), but got a clockwise. Will a clockwise meter work where the original was anti-clockwise?

If it's cable driven, probably not. If it's electronic, the direction defines the needle sweep and doesn't make any difference. I assume you are talking about the tachometer.

Yep it's a cable driven tachometer. Dealer also just said it wont work so they are sending the correct one at their expense.
