I found a company online in myseaches that makes an edge made of (I forget exactly to be honest). Anyhow, what are you guys using on driveways that are sensitive? Ill probably be doing a few neighbors driveways if it snows this year> Weather channel says northeast willl be getting hit this year. I dont want to mess up peoples driveways if its avoidable. I have a 6 foot rear blade from tractorsupply

Iuse a piece of 2" plastic conduit, split it an slide it over the cutting edge

I like the blade to scrape the blacktop clear if possible. The PVC or similar conduit will "float" over the snow and hardpack in my opinion (with the round side down).

Using a UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight) poly 1/2" thick by 4" bolted on to the blade will work, or a piece of oak or PT will work for a season and its cheap. the UHMW is $$.

i do have a hydraulic top link so do you guys think that if i angle the blade at a deep angle it will be forced to dig down good enough so to not float? I guess it depends on the depth and weight of the snow huh?

The concern with down pressure would be losing traction but it would work to clean better.

Why not make a set of shoes that bolt onto the back of the blade to keep it say 1/8" off the surface?

Here's a set for $40 - would need some brackets to mount on tho. SNOW PLOW SHOE NEW! on eBay!

I cut a strip off of a rubber horse mat from Rural King that I was using for my son's weight room. Then drilled holes in it and bolted it between the rear blade and the bottom cutting edge. I did have to buy longer bolts to accomodate the greater thickness. The rubber pad extends ~3/4" below the cutting edge to squeegy the snow off and as it piles up the cutting edge and blade do the majority of moving. Works great on concrete and asphalt with no gouging or cuts made into the surface.

I have the same setup and Champy and it works great, never a mark on pavement or concrete. I also bought a set of round shoes and welded them a few years ago, but the metal shoes did leave marks at times. Have not used the shoes since adding the rubber and it wears well, on my third year and the rubber is not showing any wear.

Hey thanks for the idea guys. I actually have about 10 of those rubber horse mats. I'll have to cut one of them and do this install
