Antifreeze in Loaded Rears

Oh and I checked: the closest place to you and I for Rimguard is about 20 miles north of the KY/TN border. Forget the name of the vendor, but that's what Rimguard told me. And yes, you and I would have to take the tractor there, they don't sell 55 gallon barrels of Rimguard.

No prob Richard. I had my next door neighbours dog lick af that was leaking from his car, it **** near did him in. I was told it's the flavor, sweet taste that will cause animals to lick it not thirst....Mike

Leaning toward couple gallons each of AF concentrate in each tire. Beet Juice is not available for me.
Tractor is at farm in North MS 60 miles south of TN / MS line. Got 2 below freezing storms that lasted several days this winter so some AF is needed.
BTW- 3510 w/ R4 tires had CC installed by dealer in 2003. So far no leaks or issues, but I only see the exterior- not what is inside. Dealer had a Belarus that he used CC in that was over 25 years old used for haying in 03 with no issues. He said if it stays full, air can not get to it and start rust. May or may not be so. If my R4s develop issues, new rims and tires as the old tires are cut and worn at least 75% anyway.

AS you are in the deep south that will certainly work. I would use non toxic RV antifreeze to avoid having a leak while your working on or around feed bunks or livestock. Imagine finishing packing a bunker full of silage to discover you had leaked ten gallons of poison all over it.

I filled my tires with water and a gallon or 2 of RV AF as we only experience temps in the teens once or twice a year and it usually is only at night. To be on the safe side, I added a can or 2 of radiator anti corrosion/lube to make sure the water did not cause rust.

Thanks for the idea about RV non-toxic AF. I don't feed livestock but I am in wildlife food plots:moose:, duck holes :duck: and dove fields :dove:- plus my dogs die: and the feral cats :cat:keeping mice away from shack and equipment don't need to be exposed to toxic chemicals. :alert:

The radiator lube is a great idea! :thumbsup:

I used anti freeze and washer fluid for my tractor.... It is a 1987 JD 855... It has turf tires that hold 22 gallon each.. Here in the north this close to Lake Superior, we get winter big time... I used 7 gallon auto antifreeze, and 15 gallon low temp washer fluid in my tubeless turfs..

I did the install myself... The first one took a while, the second not so long... There may be better products, but this was the best option for availability, price, ease of self installing..

Like said, in more things than just FEL work, the weight helps..
