Nothing Runs Like a Deere until you run an antler in your tire. I just finished raking one hay field and was switching over to my haybine when I noticed something sticking out of my rear tire on my JD 4430.
OUCH!!! :eek:A deer antler. It is 18.4-38 radial tire. It is in there real good. Fluid started to seep when trying to remove it. Left it in and pulled forwarded to get it on top so the seeping will quit. Looks like a service call for this one. If they can't salvage the tire it will really hurt! :(

You may be hearing from me come November. The tire truck will be out in the morning to hand down the verdict. We will see if a boot is possible.

Ouch. That happened to me last summer with the front tire of my 790 while brush hogging the meadow in front of my tree stand. Somehow I felt better in November when I shot a buck out of that stand though. A boot worked for my front tire but yours is a bit bigger than that.

Good luck with the fix.

It is amazing how strong those tines are. I never thought about them going through a tire, but if a small pine tree can go through my oil pan, then anything is possible.

A few years ago, a guy hit a buck while driving near here. He hit the buck so hard that it's antlers came off. He got out of his car to check out the damage, and another car drove by. That car caught one of the broken off antlers in just the right spot to flip it through the air, and into that guys gut. I don't know how he got to the hospital to have it removed, but the news person said that he was going to be fine. She held up the other broken off antler, and it was a HUGE buck. Easily in the 180 class with long tines and thick mass.

It's just amazing what an antler can do.

I have good news on the tire. They were able to boot it and I had a great week of getting what hay I had down and straw baled this week.:)

I had to use the IH1466 until they got it fixed which has no a/c. Sure was nice to get the 4430 back.

Now I am dodging the rain drops again to finish up hopefully this week.

I just wonder where the other antler might be?;) If it is out there I will be sure to find it!:D
