Any 5105/5205 owners out there?

the JD 5220 with cab was priced over 40K with most the goodies.

I got a JD 5420 with cab, mfwd, triple remotes, loader, and about everything that could be put on one for less than $35k last year. I can't imagine that the 5220 would have been more money than the 5420. Last year when I had looked at a similiar Kioti it was $34,000 for basically the same unit. I think it was a DK65 or something like that. It was a little less than Deere but not by much.

Our 5320 with cab and Sync Shuttle with 3 rear remotes and DSCV, MFWD was like 32 grand plus we had the trade of our 5310 on it. I love the new one which is about 2 1/2 years old now.

Hi Richard,
The price I quoted was a quote from my local JD dealer without any negotiations, so it was probably full retail. I did not pursue it further as I could not imagine a discount big enough to bring it into my budget. Your tractor would be my dream tractor. JD has the nicest cab of all by far. Hope you got the power reverser. The 9/3 tranny seams like a mistake to me. You have to everything with your right hand( throttle, shuttle, joystick...) plus it has only one reverse gear in a 'useable' speed.

Best wishes,
David

The 5205 has a different sounding and smelling diesel motor compared to the Yanmars. The 5205 is not any louder than my 990 but I think the 990 may have a little deaper sound to it. If you have ever heard any 5000 series tractor run they all sound the same. It sounds just like our 5320 with cab. The vibration is next to none. The JD Powertech is a good motor in those tractors. Both of our forklifts at work have them I use them both and they have well over 10K hours and 20-30 years of hard work. One did road construction before coming to us. Back to the 5205 it is a real nice driving machine you would probably love it. Near flat floor, Gear shifts on the right and left of you, electronic dashboard: When you turn the key the needles on the gauges go to the opposite sides to show they work and an audiable beep is heard. Way better plastic hood then the 4000 series. Much thicker and better quality, metal fenders, rear fuel tank some 25 gallons I believe.

It's not a bad trans. Easy to use and works and shifts great. Bailed hay with it, snowplow a little, and other things. Just got our Jasco fan sprayer for it too. A & B are both usable reverse speeds. C is a little too fast however.
