Right now I'm keeping the tractor at my friends place which is 7 miles from our property. It takes a while to drive over to my place but it's a nice country dirt road drive all the way.

When I drive I usually have my hands at two and ten on the steering wheel. I kept noticing that my right hand would end up at the 12 o'clock position and I'd reposition them to the 10 and and 2. At first I thought I was just moving my hands so I picked a spoke on the steering wheel and sure enough as I drive down the road the wheel creeps counter clockwise. I guess the tractor steering is not set up like a cars where the wheel stays in the same position.

Has anyone else noticed this?

It is because of the hydraulic steering, not geared, mine also ends up all over the place when going straight. It changes everytime I turn a few times. nothing unusual. John

I was thinking that it was just as you said, all hydo and no gears.

No mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels.;)

Nothing to worry about. Jay

Yep... as the others said.. don't worry about it. About 1x/month a tractor owner here discovers this and posts about it.. so you are in good company.. etc.

I borrowed a big International from a neighbor a few years ago. Had to drive about 3 miles to my place. I think I turned the wheel completely around at least 50 times during the trip.

On mine, or any other similar set-up, if you get the front wheels locked in somewhere like between two logs and try to turn them, you can end up turning the steering wheel with a lot of effort but the tires stay put. Knowing it makes you think twice about going in some place that you can't back out of and might get the wheels pinched.

It goes around five times and then falls off into your lap. After 4-1/2 turns to the left, you have to make several turns to the right to get the wheel screwed back on.;) :D

Ya, I'm a nube. I guess I should have done a search for steering wheel.:D I'll probably post some other questions and I know you guys will bear with me. It's all new an wonderful to me! My wife keeps telling me she can see I'm having too much fun while on the tractor and when does she get a turn. I plan to get brush hog this weekend and turn her loose on the open ground.

Thanks guys,

Greg
