Any comments on Grand L cab tractors??

I've been looking at the L4330hst with cab. My dealer says the cab option will add aprox. $5500 to the price. I've sit in
one and everything looks to be the expected Kubota quality.
Just wondering if any cab owners had anything too say?

I have a L4610 HSTC and love it.

What will you be using it for? There are some uses it would not be the best suited for.

Consider these:
Good:
1. Cab height about 2' shorter that most cab tractors
2. Less climbing to get in and out
3. Easier to clean windows
4. Short wheel base gives short turn radius
5. HST fantastic for utility, loader, lawn or bush hog mowing.

Not so good:
1. HST probably not best for pulling a field plow all day
2. short ground clearance, will need belly pan if you go to woods much.
3. My air cond does not have capacity of my larger tractor, but I sure wouldn't give it up.
4. My personal dislike is having to run the engine at top rpm to get pto speed. Most of my older tractors could run engine much slower.
5. Short wheel base & R4 tires make for rough ride

You need to search my list of posts. I addressed the lack of air conditioning capacity on the Grand Cab models. Kubota is also aware of my fix.

I have a 5030 HSTC and farm, so to speak with it. I use it for a hay operation and it is quite capable. Row cropping is out with an HST due to the heat in operation factor of the transmission. For a row cropper, I'd go with the M series with the 8x8 shuttle.

As far as ground clearance, I have the loader sub frame which hangs down a few inches lower than the belly of the tractor and bailed wheat straw last year that was combined at a height of about one foot. The belly of the Kubota is practically flat and nothing really hangs down to get caught. The only hangy down part is the receiver for the draw bar. Other than rubbing the paint off the front axle housing (wheat stubble is somewhat abrasive), no problems.

One deficiency in the Grand L cab series is the lack of a tool,. box other than the storage behind the seat. I had to add an external tool box attached to the loader sub frame right under the cab step on the left side (facing forward). I carry an assortment of pins, tools and hydraulic tips as well as other junk all the time as I change implements in the field. The inside tool/part compartment is way too small to accommodate anything other than a pair of gloves or a pack of cigarettes. I also added a dry chemical fire extinguisher right next to the seat even though I have extinguishers on all my implements.

Overall, I am pleased with my 5030. The cab is actually LOWER than the ROPS equipped no-cab tractor. I was worried about the strength of the rear section of the tractor, as my tongue weight of my hay mower is over 1000 pounds. No problem. I don't even run front weights and the tractor never feels light in the front.

What kind of price did you get on the L4330HSTC?? and are you getting a FEL?

I dont think you will ever regret getting the Cab. Cold winters and hot summers will be MUCH more comfortable. Would you buy a truck without A/C?? Ill bet not.
