hi im looking to puchase a miller Maxstarョ 150 STH. i was just wondering if anyone had used one for either stick or tig and what there experiences were also its rated for 150 a 26v whats the thickest steel i can weld with it?

I've got the Maxstar 150S (no need for Tig)

Nothing bad to say about it at all...Thickest steel...thats a loaded question. ...All I can say is I have welded steel up to 3/4" and 1" Multi-Pass...in theory, I could weld 5" thick with a nice bevel and about a bazillion passes :laughing: Its done everything I've asked of it and then some.

Its a GREAT welder. The reason I bought it was my dad was familiar with them from being a Millwright...the mill he worked at had a few of these for the hard to get to areas...Dont let the physical size fool you, this machine will out weld a tombstone any day.

True, Most of the new Inverter units will beat down a Transformer Stick Welder on Stick and Tig. I had a blast matching the ones I sell against a Lincoln Square Wave Tig 175. No Contest..:D
