I forget my somewhat dry humor doesn't always come across in type.
The scariest encounter in recent memory was with a crocodile. Our Lt. was sweeping a stolen truck prior to recovery. (We always sweep to check for bodies/weapons/other stuff in case the vehicle was used in a crime - things may wash out during recovery.) While checking the bed she bumped something big that moved. Not the usual giant catfish. Her tender said the croc hit the surface vertically, cleared the water and headed off down stream at a high rate of speed. Guess it's a question of who scared who.
It's not uncommon to have somebody shoreside shooting water mocassins while divers make entry and exit from the water.
Otherwise the underwater debris is the scary part.
