Mowing Any easy way to hook up rotary mower???

Hi,

I'm a new 2410 owner who is in his 60's. Hooking up the rotary mower by removing the box scraper and wrestling with the mower attachment is a real pain for me. Do you have any suggestions about how I can make the job a little easier.

I am looking at one of the 3pt quicktach systems to make hooking up easier.
Now I try to make sure I unhook the attachments where they are level, and on blocks (some people have wheeled dollies that they set the attachments on for wheeling around). On blocks makes it easier to use a stick or pole to get under them for leverage to position them when hooking up the 3pt arms.
There are also 3 pt arms that have sliding ends that latch after connecting.
Talk to your dealer, and find out what is available to you.
We mostly agree that it is a bit of work to wrestle this heavy equipment around when unhooking or hooking up.

Attached is a look at the LandPride hitch, although there are several mfg's of something similar. Let us know if this is anything like what you wanted so hooking up is easier.

You might want to visit your JD dealer and ask them about their new iMatch system. Also, info about it is in the JD discussions and web page... It seems to be the compact tractor application of a quick hitch... I guess it's an option on the new 4X10 series tractors.

I use the Freedom Hitch system for most of my attachments. It consists of a tractor section and an attachment section for each attachment. I just back up to hook up from the tractor seat (the PTO must be attached by hand). Photo shows my 72 inch rotary mower with attachment piece (large V section).

Here's my snow blower with the Freedom Hitch V piece and also shows the support piece they have that levels the attachment. (Hopefully this photo will not be as large as the last ones).

FIRST: WELCOME ABOARD! i also have a b2400 and just turned 60. i don't have to much problem with the rear mower as it has 4 wheels and can be moved quite easily. the back blade on the other hand is a bear to hook up.it was tough enough when i unhooked it on the concret floor of one of my garages, but not to terrible, but last summer i made the mistake of dropping it on the ground for a few weeks/w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif won't do that again!!! will be on a dolly or rollers when i need to take it off again. u are right! too old for that stuff/w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

Three point attachments are character builders for sure. I think level ground is the key. I drop whatever on long 4x4's and use a crow bar to position them. Odds and ends of wood blocks for shimming here and there are handy also.
