I don't know if this is better under this or the "lube / oil forum" but here goes.
I've got what appears to be one of the least accessable grease fittings I've seen. It's on the front U joint on my drive shaft , tight to the flywheel. I can get a hand on it and even get a grease coupling started but that's about it. The fitting is a 45 degree zerk.
Does anyone know if a 90 degree coupling may work ?
I saw them today but didn't know weather to get it or not.
I hate to remove the drive line to grease the darn thing.
I've lost more religon over this baby than I care to think about...
By the way, it's on my 7264 Cub
Many Thanks,

hmmm

that is a tough one with out seeing it

the fittings are pretty cheap so get one and try it

try a straight one too

or you can also buy a new ujoint the greases through the end caps ... your auto parts store should carry them

cj7,
I may not have been clear enough.
I'm aware of the various zerk fittings. What I was curious about is a 90 degree coupling that fits on the grease gun.
It's like a reg. coupling with about .75" of the side cut out.
I guess you slide the coupling on at 90 degs. to the fitting.
I saw this "gun fitting "at TSC today.
Just wondered if they really work.
Thanks, GrayBeard

I know what tool you mean.

But I do not know if it will fit for you. I do know a few mechanics that have used the adapter and it works ok.

Get a gun with a smaller head.

there are a couple different types of grease gun heads, one has a straight end with the zerk hole in the side so you PUSH the tube onto the zerk which goes into the SIDE of the tube, then there is a small SLIDE part that slides up locking the zerk on. then there is a SWIVEL type which works just like a swivel for a socket set. I have seen several difeerent designs for these some use BALL type mount and others use several little bendie joints rather than the ball. harbor freight caries them both types. same for most auto parts places and or sears prices are all over the place though. from 3~4 bucks for both to 15 bucks each! I bought a KIT that had both types as well as several needle injectors and other SMALL diameter heads with hoses ect. but for the life of me it (the hole dang kit) is MIA.. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Too bad you're not closer to me. I bought the same right angle grease tip at TSC a couple weeks ago for one of my backhoe zerks. Never used it after I found I could get to it by fully extending the boom, moving some hoses and using a flex hose on the grease gun. It was only a few bucks so if that's all that will work for you, give it a shot /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for the comments.
I'm going to try one ; heck for 5 bucks it's worth a shot.
That's a cheap price to not think up any more things to call it !!!
