Any good online sources for tractor oils?

The one local dealer to me is charging almost $30 for a 2.5 gallon jug of NH 134D transmission/hydraulic oil. Does anyone know of a good online source for maintenance items like oil and filters? Thanks in advance.

You might find it cheaper online, but the shipping will kill you.

I'm also paying ~$30 for 2.5 gallon jugs of Kubota Super UDT.

You can also cross reference the filters and get something like NAPA, Wix, or Baldwin at most auto parts stores.

I agree with the previous poster, shipping will kill you on oil.

Most farm stores, napa, and even wall mart sell a universal transdraulic oil. I've used the wallmart and TSC oils.. if you read the pail.. specifies 134d equivalence..( and jd 303.. etc, etc. ). 5 gall is less and 30 bucks a pail..

Thanks very much for the info. I was originally thinking about using the Amsoil stuff instead of the NH 134D since it's not *that* much more expensive than what the local dealer is charging, and it's apparently a much better oil. But, the dealer put the fear in me when he told me a bunch of stories about brakes chattering, transmissions failing, warranties being denied, etc. It might have been a bunch of BS, but it did get me thinking that I need to find a cheap source of real NH 134D.

mahlers -- Of course he told you that. He wants to see oil. not have you buy it somewhere else. He is full of it.

That to me, are dealers I hate. Give me a break. Some dealer is going to lie to make a sale? that would never happen. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Any oil that meets the NH134D specs is fine. I've been running Amsoil Hyd fluid for months and about 25 operating hours without a problem.

It is a bunch of BS and if he got you thinking about not buying another brand of fluid he has achieved his goal. There's nothing wrong with using NH134D, or any other fluid that meets NH's specs. There is however something wrong with this dealer. He's not being honest with you.

I would push the dealer and ask for the names of the people who had these problems, and proof that it was a direct result of using other than NH fluid. My NH dealer also sells Kubota tractors and if a NH tractor owner wants to use a synthetic hyd fluid, he uses Kubota's SUDT.

I'm curious. Has anyone ever used a "generic" brand? You know, the stores name on it? If so, which brand.

I used "Travellers Premium" universal hydraulic fluid from TSC, with the blessings from Kioti USA.

I'm also in Northern California. There's no TSC or anything like it here to provide an alternative to the dealers.

AutoZone stocks Delo and Rotella oil and name-brand trans/hydraulic oil (JD303 equivalent). I think it was Texaco brand? I don't remember. If the label on the bucket states that it meets NH warranty requirements I think it should be fine. I've also seen trans/hydraulic oil at Kragen. Prices are fairly low at either chain.
