None -yet. Until then FunBuggy (EZ-Go) will have to do!
O.K. guys. I told the wife that the TBN brain trust wouldn't let me down, so here goes!

We leave this coming Saturday on a 3 week vacation. We have to make up for the fiasco last June!/w3tcompact/icons/mad.gif Anyway, we're going to take our time and meander down to Florida the first week, then we spend a week at a golf resort (where else, right? /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif), then take the last week to meander on back.

Loosely speaking, the itineray is: First day get to Madison, Indiana. Stay the night and spend half the next day there. Then on Sunday, head for Gatlinburg, Tennesse. We'll probably spend 2 days there. Then on to Savannah, Georgia. Probably spend a couple days there and then head for Orlando. After the week in Orlando, we're heading for Panama City, Florida for the first night, then on to Gulf Shores, Alabama. Spend a couple days there, and then head to Tunica, Mississippi. We'll try to recoup our expenses there! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif After that, we'll be winging it. May head for Memphis, or may just throw a dart at a map! /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif

Anyway, I told her that I'd bet we'd get some real good suggestions for unusual things to do and see. I think we pretty much have the regular, routine touristy things identified, but we like to find things that most others don't even know are there. Now there's an added bonus for anyone who gives us a suggestion that we use. I'll make sure to take some pictures and post them when we get back! /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

Oh yeah. There's one more thing. I've had to promise that I'll minimize the stops at tractor dealers. Apparently she's getting tired of it taking us twice as long to get anywhere because I'm always looking for dealerships./w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif

Anyway, there it is. Any ideas, tips, hints, suggestions, warnings, or whatever would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Hey Garry,

Keep hinting for a tractor , it works. It took me 5 years. As far a sightseeing, you're a bit out of my area. Pa isn't on the list, but the places that you mentioned sound good. Be safe on your trip, and have fun.

Hi Kent!

Keep hinting? KEEP hinting?/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif I'm almost hitting her over the head daily! If I hint any harder, I'll be in jail cause I killed her! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif I've never had that problem with her. She's always been supportive! I'm one of the lucky ones!! /w3tcompact/icons/love.gif

We actually talked about heading out to PA this trip. Our son is now out there in Catasaurua (sp?). But it just wouldn't have worked with our other plans. It should be fun. We haven't been to Florida since the kids were still home and we took them down. IT should look a little different from an adults perspective! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Thanks for the well wishes. We definitely want to stay as far away from the Virginia/Washington, D.C. area as we can. But I do have a brother who lives in D.C. That's just one more worry! /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif

Yeah, I know what you mean. I hope that they find them soon. I'm not sure of the town in Pa, that you are referring to, but it could be around Allentown. I've seen something similar down there. Once again good luck.

Madison, Indiana... See Clifty Falls state Park. Not too big. Lots of steps on trails. Downtown Madison has most of its 1800 store fronts restored. Gambling boats on the Ohio in the area.

Gatlinburg. Be sure to check out the Roaring Forks Motor tour. Very nice scenery from your car. Narrow roads. Also, see Cade's Cove in the National park. Cherokee on the south end of the park. Little tourist town.

No more suggestions until the way home.

Tunica, more gambling.

Chatanooga, TN is a nice area.

Stop by Mamoth Cave in Kentucky. Nice easy walking tours. BIG cave.

Somewhere along the way, stop by a Cracker Barrell for me and have a roast beef dinner with two sides of corn and some sour dough bread /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif and don't skip a Krispy Kreme it you see one.

Have a great trip.

Thanks for the tips. Some of that info. about Madison we hadn't heard about. Clifty Falls might be a real pretty hike!

Gatlinburg - yeah, we've been there a couple of other times, but we haven't done the roaring Forks tour. That's one of the things on the list!

I'd like to do the cave thing, but the wife has a real problem with them.

Thanks for the help! /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Biltmore - Oh Yeah!! Been there - done that! About 4 times now! /w3tcompact/icons/love.gif Our son was in Myrtle Beach, S.C. for a few years, and that was right on the way. Ever do it at Christmas!? /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif all you can say is WOW!! We're probably going to try to squeeze it in again too!

Thanks! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

If you go along the coast there is a battleship parked that you can tour, I believe it is in North Carolina. There is also the oldest fort in the country in Northern Florida. Sorry, do not remember the names or where either or at, just along the coast.

Daytona Beach Cape Canaveral.

On highway 192 south of Disney World, go west until the end, highway 27 north about 5-6 miles, there is a orange orchard where you can pick your own fruit. Also on the west end of 192 there is a chineese buffet that is just excellent, it is called the Ace Buffet, also quite reasonable, it is on the south side of the road beside the Howard Johnson motel, to the north of that there is an all you can eat prime rib place, also very good.

If you have the time stop at Celebration, very neat and well laid out town, but very expensive homes.

Florida mall if your wife likes shopping.

Get off of the interstates around Orlando and take some backroads, neat country.

Tampa had a nice wharf area.

Little early for pre season baseball yet.

Can tell you where the Home Depot is but do not remember any tractor stores.

I know a lot of these are tourist things, but some of it is fun to do if you have the time.

There has to be a least thirty golf courses down there.

Lots of open houses if you like to look at those.

Garry,

Sounds like your route will take you close to Tallahassee, Fla on your way to Panama City. Out side of Tallahassee is a state park called Waukla Springs which is one of the largest fresh water springs in the world with an old restored bed and breakfast and a great deal of wildlife. Fortunately this area has not been over built for tourist and is worth a stop or a night. Do a search for Waukla Springs and you will find all kinds of information.

There are also many little fishing villages along the Florida gulf coast if you take Hwy 98 across the panhandle. Apalachicola if very nice and not as toureisty as Panama City.

Have a great trip.
