I want to use the fel on a ck 20 but don't know weather it is strong enough to push the the stuff or should I lift it and dump it.
Thanks

I used my 20 last winter. I would say it depends.

Really wet heavy snow would ball up very large and be a pain to push.

Light powder you could push all day.

On heavy snow I would push angled to each side of the driveway. Sort of like a V pattern.

Plenty of power in the CK20 for snow.

Enjoy !

Before I had the snowblower, I would put the bucket down and in float position, curl it up a little so it doesn't dig down and then just go. I pushed through as much as 11" of heavy wet snow. Every 100' or so, I would turn and dump it. As long as you have traction, power wil be no problem.

Thanks,
Do I need some weight in the back also. I am a new inexperienced owner and live in Central NY where we do get snow.

I would suggest weight on the back. I keep my rototiller on. The weight of that, along with filled tires seems to be enough to push fairly deep snow. Spinning tires are your enemy!

Glick, What's your driveway made of? I have a back blade but have used the FL a few times for certain places to make it easier. My driveway is cement and even in float, it does wear the cutting edge of the bucket.

The driveway is stone and has the usual ruts. I have tried walk behind snowblowers and they just are more work than shoveling by hand. If I can keep the snow down to one or two inches before freezing solid I'll be happy.
Thanks

Hello Glick, your Ck20 is a little brute. I plowed my 800ft driveway with a 700lb quad and 5 ft plow before i got my ck30. Your ck20 has alot more weight and traction then what i used ,im sure youll be fine..

I'm in CNY too and use my FEL for plowing on my runner crush drive. Actually I do 5 drives. Same as others I put bucket in float and curl the bucket up slightly and push away. Haven't had any problems, when I get to the end I lift and dump. If snow is heavier I stop to dump more often. I usually keep my 3PT. snowblower on for weight. I don't use it unless we get a lot of snow since the bucket way is much faster and I don't have to sit sideways backing up. If your driveway is on a hill or you have an ice base you may need chains, if flat you probably can get away without chains.

A word of caution: At first go slow as the cutting edge may hit unseen obstacles and make for quick stops. After all these are found, eliminated or marked it can be back to normal operation.
