Any idea of what a F-700 ford can haul?

I saw this truck on Facebook for sale and the price is right. If I could put 15k on the bed I could probably part ways with my big Tex trailer. I know the ramps probably aren’t up to the task but I can fix that. I’m asking about the truck.

I agree on on the retired uhaul truck. I’d also agree on the gvw being 25,500, but I doubt it’s that light. My F-450 rollback 18’ steel bed weighs 12k. The bed on that truck looks aluminum so maybe it is 9k

There should be GVW's listed on the drivers door near the serial number. It should list front and rear GVW's. GVW = Gross Vehicle Weight. Or find the sticker with all the options codes on it. Look up the codes on the internet. The options sticker will have codes for the front and rear spring packages.

It's just about impossible to tell GVW's from a picture as each truck could have different rear axle, front axle and spring packages.

If there is no GVW sticker then take the serial number to a Ford or Sterling dealership and they should be able to run the serial number and tell you how it was optioned out of the factory.

That’s pretty much what I plan on doing. The seller doesn’t have any of that listed and hasn’t made contact yet.

I’d say the tires are good for it. The tires on my kodiak are rated at like 5k each.

Just because someone does something doesn't make it a good idea. I know guys who take 100K loads over bridges rated for 25T. Sure, it's usually fine, but when it isn't, really bad things happen.

Did he say he was able to haul his 20K trackhoe legally and safely? If it's not both, I wouldn't want a truck that had been badly overloaded.

I’d be worried about overloading the front axle with that long wheelbase. That thing looks a bit too homemade. I bet if you actually go look at it you’ll find a lot of safety issues with it. Cool concept though.

I bought the truck. The rear axel is 18000 pounds and the front is 7000. The bed is the bottom of the original uhaul truck. The ramp is better than I gave it credit for.
