Looking for any help I can get on a recent Turco rototiller Tl125 that was purchased at an auction. It came with no manuals, and requires some assemble.

Most important is the gearbox, which was empty and Im not sure what gear oil to use and how much it uses.

If your familiar with this rototiller, possible have access to a manual I would greatly appreciate any insight you can give me to the gearbox oil requirements.

I don't think there would be anything special. Regular 90W gear oil should work just fine.

Likely is just to add some lubrication to the chain that runs between the top and bottom sprockets.

I'm in the process now of putting on a new gasket under that chain/sprocket cover to the tune of $80.

Prolly would have opted to use the blue gasket maker if I'd known ahead/before I ordered it. But hope it will hold the quart or so of oil when I bolt it back together. :)

Great thanks for the info. I have some 140w, would that work or should I stick with the 90w?

good luck with the gasket.

The sprockets and no. 80 chain that I see in there wouldn't object to 140w. :D

Not even sure that just leaving it run dry would hurt, as it is roller chain. But some lubrication can't hurt, but that spring-loaded finger that keeps the chain from flopping around likely can use an oil film on it.

I've cleaned off the blue gasket gook. Here is a pic when I opened it up.

My Landpride tiller uses 80W-90 for the gear box and specifies Shell Avania EP 00 oil or 90wt. gear oil as an alternate for the chain compartment.

I would say just about anything that won't leak out would be fine.

Did you say $80 for a gasket? Ouch! I think I would be cutting my own or starting a new batch of blue goop.

Yes, I did have to pay that. And it caught be by surprise too. Didn't imagine it would be that expensive. And yes, I would have cut my own or lay down some blue goop. Damage is done now, and I'll swallow hard and bite the bullet.
Then there was $10 shipping on top of the $80. It came wadded up in a small plastic quart-size bag. But laid out ok with no tears or breaks.

thanks all for the response, I think I have enough to get this item setup. I found most tillers almost entirely look identical and function the same. Found Unifarm manual that might provide all I need to assemble.

But its always great to have a few heads to bounce things off of.
