Any Ideas for sealant used around diesel fuel?

I have seen some air bubbling from around the side of my fuel/injector/injection pump on a YM1500. i have seen it called many different things.
Regular or Hi Temp RTV gasket maker/sealant doesn't play well with diesel. It just melts like wax. Since there is no gasket that I know of, I just want to seal the entire area where the fuel/injector pump fits into its housing next to the fuel bowl. I have seen some other areas that I would like to seal as I try to track down where and why I am getting air into the fuel lines.

I have been using polyurethane house calking around fuel joints. Even plugging holes and mending the odd split tanks.
I clean with lacquer thinner first and apply the calk. Flextra is a brand I like and it is very like the sealant they use to install windshields on cars. Windshield calk runs about $10. at auto part stores. (Flextra about $5.00, but it might be a local product)

(Last week I hit a repaired tank with my plow and the split repair still held up well.)
