Any Kubotas with direct injection?

The smallest JD is the 4115 (24 hp) with direct diesel injection (no glow plugs). Does any of the small Kubotas have this feature?

The JD 4115 is about $5,000 more than the JD 4010 because of this feature and 6 more hp.

Kubota has none at this time. John Deere uses it as a selling point. In all honesty, Kubota doesn't need the direct injection, they already surpass California's regulations. The direct-indirect issue has been discussed many times before and it is a non issue. If it makes you feel better about the JD, buy it.

Kubota does have some older direct injection models. The L4850 5 cylinder is a direct injection. While it's typical of diesels today to be direct injected, that isn't the only barometer by which to compare a diesel engine. For some reason, the Kubota indirect vortex engine is one of the cleanest burning, one of the quietest, starts very easy at low temperatures and has power relative to those tractors in the same category. Fuel economy is similar as well. If there is a benefit to direct over indirect injection in these small tractor engines, I don't know what it is. It's been brought up before, but in conclusion, we all pretty much agree most of the small diesels are pretty darn good and pretty comparable. Yanmar is used in many things be it marine or commercial applications while Kubota is used in Bobcats skidsteers, track excavators as well as other manufactuers equipment.

Good point. My neighbor runs Kubota and that is a fair amount quiter than my Deere I think. The exhaust smells different too if you can believe that. I know Bobcat use Kubota motors. Both are good diesel engines though.

I believe the new M105's are direct injection.

Thanks for verifying that Nick. I had a Massey Ferguson with a direct injection Perkins before I got the Kubota with the indirect injection engine.

The first time I used it I thought "The exhaust smells so much different" then "Nah, I must be imagining things". I'm relieved to find out my oldtimer's ain't setting in (yet).
