Hi folks! I am new to the wonderful piece of Heaven known as the Missouri Ozarks, and am looking forward to hearing from/meeting some of my neighbors. The people that I have met so far have been pretty darn nice. I fully intend to be a great member of this rural community, and will be seeking to gain knowledge about tractors, future job prospects, storage building construction ideas, and many other aspects of living in Ozark County. I was born and raised in southern Louisiana and have lived in a number of other parts of the US. I always knew that my other relocations were temporary, but I believe that I may be residing in the Gainesville MO. area til my final days. So, don't ya'll worry, since I want to stay a while, I won't be stocking my ponds with any alligators..........it would be hard to have good crawfish harvests with those hungry reptiles keeping an eye on me.

Welcome to Missouri! I live in Polk County about 6 miles north of Bolivar. Officially, it's a Dunnegan, Mo. address. Not all that far away from you. Mike.

Hi there! I did live out in MO in Battlefield in 2002-2004. Have to say I LOVED IT! We were about 30 min from Branson and 5 min from Springfield. IF it had not been that all of our family was back here in NC we would still be living there! Yes it is great county side!

Welcome. I've lived in Missouri my entire life ... in St. Louis.

Now, we are on some land in Jefferson County but spend a meaningful amount of time at the Lake Of The Ozarks.

Hi to all! Thanks for the warm welcomes. I see that some of you are transplants also. I have met a lot of people from Illinois, Michigan, and other cold weather locales in my visits to the region while searching for a homesite. Seems a lot of folks desire a milder climate while my Fiancee (wonderful woman originally from the Rochester/Buffalo NY area) Joan and I were wanting a place with a bit of all 4 seasons.

Joan has certainly dealt with winter before, and I lived in the mountains of SW Virginia for a few years. A beautiful area, just too many taxes for my liking. In the early '80s, I experienced the coldest winter ever the summer I was stationed in Great Lakes, Illinois. The Navy sent me there in Dec. and I left in Oct. You know, there really should be laws against that Lake Michigan wind!

Joan is a RN with most of her experience in Oncology/Hospice. She should have a reasonable chance for a decent salary when she relocates here. Me, I have spent the last 21 years in food grade specialty chemicals and flavorings production. I'm looking for something close to home (Mountain Home, AR or West Plains, MO) with some industial aspects, but may have to resort to selling Gumbo and Jambalaya at the corner of US 160 and MO 5!!!

We arrive here in the Ozarks knowing that we will have to work hard, pinch pennies, and learn to be as resourceful as possible. But, there's nothing wrong with working hard if the rewards are clean living, low crime, few traffic jams, friendly communities, and gorgeous landscapes!

Again, thanks for the greetings, and we look forward to learning from you all on this great website.

My father in law lives close to Bruner on about 100 acres. Seems like we all went square dancing in Fenton one night. Love to eat at Lambert's in Ozark.
