Any one else being potentially scammed by ACI (AKA Official Payments)?

I'm going to put in some fake info in but -
My wife and I own several properties in a certain state.
Wife got an email last week from Customer Service, Official Payments Corporation stating that a Payment to FAKE-COUNTYREALPROP was returned from your bank on 2/19/2025 - reason unable to locate account.
So wife called up the FAKE-COUNTY tax assessor and we were told all our taxes had been paid and the county does not use ACI.
Today she got another email with basically the same facts.

Anyone else getting emails like this?

No but I'm not surprised. Scams work better when they have as much real info as possible, and property records are public.

Good on your wife to call the county (not using any numbers from the email!) to verify.

We (I) have very similar scams occurring down here. All are email, all involve a 'helpful link' that you can click to resolve the urgent issue. The sender's email is usually a 'private' one. Sometimes, instead of the link, a phone number is provided... which is to "them", not the actual institution.

Never click on the provided 'link'.
