My 6 year old daughter feels that she has out grown the power wheels type Gator she got for Christmas 2 years ago. Last week when we were at the Deere dealer to pick up my tractor she informs me that she will be asking Santa for a Compact Gator. As Barney Fife used to say, I had to nip that and inform her that Santa couldn't build patented John Deere equipment and that Santa had a budget and couldn't buy her one from John Deere either.

You might as well get her than new Yamaha Rhino since she would outgrow the mini Gator in a few years anyway.My neighbor just got a Rhino and they are pretty cool machines. Has a really throaty exhaust sound and 3 point seatbels just like a car.

We have a 4x2 and it is useful showing customers around the rows of machinery. However, when we take it down on our river sandbar, coming out is very dangerous unless I engage the Diff lock and then it is very low on power with 2 passengers onboard. I personally feel they are overrated.--Ken Sweet

Going up hills can be slow but you will get up eventually. The 4x2 models only have a 10 horse motor.

Not getting the belt wet--although, I guess I could--It is just the low HP and yes it will eventually pull up the 35 degree ramp. My only point is the Gator 4x2 is not much better than my old Harley Davidson golf cart ($300 invested) when it comes to pulling.--Ken Sweet

I think they pull good. I pull out our irrigation gun that is supposed to be pulled out with a tractor or other heavy load jobs. The Gators are the most durable utility vehicle I had ever seen and the JD AMT 626 is also a fine machine.
