Any Santas out here?

My wife has been in charge of our church's Breakfast With Santa for about 16 - 18 years. This year, for the first time since before she took over doing this benefit, our regular Santa isn't going to be there and I've been picked to help him out this year. (wink, wink, nod, nod) I'd always thought that would be a cool gig but now that it's getting closer, I'm starting to get a little more concerned about my role. So, do any of you who might have experience helping Santa Claus out from time to time have any tips for a fledgling Santa?

Unfortunately I have the build for Santa, and the white hair. No expert, but I have learned...
- Never promise to fulfill a specific request - the real Santa may not agree
- If they don't know what they want, ask about their favorite existing toys - and talk about them.
- Remember that to little kids Santa and his workshop are as real as their home. You can speak about such things with absolute familiarity - as you would your own workshop.
- Always have a helper(s) to control kids so that you are not overrun and can focus on one child at a time.
- Realize your beard and the situation are frightening to some kids. Hugs and tickling works sometimes.
- Try not to emulate the Ho Ho Ho. Make it a Ha Ha Ha... Sounds more realistic.
- Make sure the beard is on well and check it periodically. Nothing looks worse than a cheap, slipping beard. Kids will pull it. Have your helpers help you watch your attire as well.
- Build in break times for a long session. The suit is hot, and kids don't go for sweaty Santas.
- Work out some gimmicks to get kids to look at a camera. Making up elves and such works.
- Look directly at the child you are holding when you talk to them. Be real.
- No food or drink with an aroma immediately prior to your session.
