Rebuildable only means as long as they make parts for that transmission. I have one "2" in my Woods ( grasshopper) that that's rebuildable but from what I hear there are no parts available any more. Mine's 22 years old so maybe I'm expecting to much..? I forget the name of the transmissions used in this one but that's what I'm up against if one ever fails.

What a bunch of BS.. Parts no longer available for a companies flagship model ??

The reason I want(ed) a commercial mower was that it hopefully might be the last mower I buy considering I'm 57 years old and mow 1 acre. But if parts aren't available after 20 years or less, I guess I better stick with a cheaper residential model!

Would JD be a better bet as far as parts being available for more than 20 years? Or which company?

Thanks!

Maybe I am totally wrong, but with the hydro drives used in the ztr mowers it was my impression if one brand of a pump or drive went it could be replaced with another brand. If mechanical drive would think different issue. Am I wrong?

I bought a Ferris about four years ago about this time of the year and had right good discount on it. I second looking at the Ferris, Snapper or Simplicity brands. Think good bit of those labels use same parts. It came with Kawasaki 37 EFI, injector body went out just past warranty ended but had been giving me issue for a year before warranty ran out checked by two dealerships and neither found the issue. Did not impress me. Engine did not have 150 hours on it.

I still think you'd be better to go commercial name brand. I believe Grasshopper uses something different today. Guessing things like I described could happen to any brand. My Woods uses a Eaton Gemini trans I believe. A again from what I've read parts for these or whole units are either tough to come by or very expensive. I'm hoping to never find out.
