Re: anybodt have a newer 3010/3410/3710??

If this noise were coming from my machine it would be that I left the brake on yet again /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

I'd get the dealer on the horn.

Good luck,

Re: anybodt have a newer 3010/3410/3710??

Just got a new 3430 with cab. I have a concern with mine too. It doesn't seem to go up the steep roads as well as my 2710 did. They both are HST with Low, Med, & High. When I am going up these same hills now with my 3430 it slows way down(from 16 MPH to 5 MPH) and I have to stop and shift into Med. gear range. Maybe, since it was very cold(+5) and this was shipped up front the south, it could be sludging/freezing up. Not really sure, dealer is going to look into it. My concern, maybe this bigger and beefier/heavier machine is too much for this 35HP engine. The B2710 would slow down a little but never did I have to down shift. I doubt it would be the fuel freezing up because once I go to medium gear range, the engine revs up fine and power seems adequate Anyone else experienced this problem or have any thoughts?
Thanks, Jerry

Re: anybodt have a newer 3010/3410/3710??

Rockdog,
I have heard others talking about this when they went from one of B series to the grand L. It seems that the HP to weight ratio is diffrent. A little more HP but a whole lotta weight. It is rare for me to run in high. I usually just keep it in Low range anyway. Too many hills and lots of loader work.

Re: anybodt have a newer 3010/3410/3710??

I have an L3010 and usually only use High range for transporting between locations. I do plow my driveway in High range though.

I also found that when my machine was brand new that it would bog down more than after about 50 hours.

Re: anybodt have a newer 3010/3410/3710??

Rockdog, not knowing much about the 2710, I suspect its top speed is not as high as that of the L3430 which is 16.8 mph. The cab tractor weighs about 3340lbs bare. Add the 1400 pounds or so for a loader, 300 for a bucket, fill the tires or add R4's and the weight keeps going up. My L48 with all its HP won't go up steep hills in high either, medium is another story since top speed on a L48 in M range is a measely 4 mph, but it has power up the wazoo. Come to think of it, the Cat 950 I drove wouldn't either. I think it means your in the big leagues now. The High range on your tractor is pretty much for flat areas. Even the Kubota L4850 I use with a 5 cylinder diesel in 7th or 8th won't get you up a hill without eventually having to downshift. I also use a NH 2120, same thing. In fact it has trouble on a slight incline in 11th and 12th gear. Using medium and going as fast as 7.5 mph should not be that big of an issue, you think? Rat.

Other then that issue, how do you like the L3430?

Re: anybodt have a newer 3010/3410/3710??

Thanks guys for the input. Dealer talked to Kubota this afternoon and recommended they check it out. Tomorrow that are coming to pick it up and drain the fuel and they will put it on the dyno to check it out. You're probably right Rat, it's just a different beast that doesn't go up steep hills as easily as the B series did. I guess it is a lot like the TLBs and large end loaders I get behind on the road, they do fine on level ground but slow down considerably on a steep incline.
Thanks again!
Jerry

Re: anybodt have a newer 3010/3410/3710??

Have to agree with Rat on this... At least from operating my 4610, on the Grand L series, high is really a road gear. Anything you do in a field or off road in high gear puts you into one of the following situations:
1. High RPM and HST floored... engine maybe doesn't bog as much, but you're flying and should have some safety concerns.
2. High RPM and HST feathered... engine probably doesn't bog, but you're really stressing the hydro box and need a lower gear.
3. Low RPM... lugging the engine... not good.

I use Mid range for almost all field work except serious pulling.

On the road, yeah, you're pulling a lot of weight up any hills and engine may load up some. What RPM's are you at?

One other thought probably not necessary to mention, but if you are on a dry road, you are in 2WD, right? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Enjoy your 3430, be safe and post a picture when you can!

Re: anybodt have a newer 3010/3410/3710??

Grandad,
I was in 2WD and the RPM was about 2500. Guess everything must be normal. Just a different machine with different characterisitics. I wiil post more pictures soon. I already have about 10 pictures of the L3430 with cab posted in the photos section of TBN. The cab is something else that will take getting used to also.
Thanks,

Jerry
