Have to agree with Rat on this... At least from operating my 4610, on the Grand L series, high is really a road gear. Anything you do in a field or off road in high gear puts you into one of the following situations:
1. High RPM and HST floored... engine maybe doesn't bog as much, but you're flying and should have some safety concerns.
2. High RPM and HST feathered... engine probably doesn't bog, but you're really stressing the hydro box and need a lower gear.
3. Low RPM... lugging the engine... not good.
I use Mid range for almost all field work except serious pulling.
On the road, yeah, you're pulling a lot of weight up any hills and engine may load up some. What RPM's are you at?
One other thought probably not necessary to mention, but if you are on a dry road, you are in 2WD, right? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
