Oil & Fuel Anybody add a fuel level gauge????

Has anybody added a fuel level gauge to your tractor? If so, what type of fuel level sender did you use? Thanks..........

Wouldn't be to hard. I have installed aftermarket ones on antique OTR trucks before when a factory replacement couldn't be found. Ispro makes all kinds of universal fuel level senders. Just pick a sender and a gauge, the only other thing you will need is 12 volts to run it.

We carry the fuel cap with a mechanical gauge in the center, operated by a float.

Has anybody added a fuel level gauge to your tractor?

1/4" wood dowel about 2 ft long.

I emptied the tank, put in 2 gallons of fresh fuel and made a mark on the stick at the 2 gallon point. Then interpolated the other gallon marks. Simpler than wiring a gauge and I think this is more precise.

The same marks are repeated on the outside of the translucent tank. In sunlight you can see the fuel level through the tank if you nudge the tractor to slosh the fuel around.

What I like about the 2-cylinder Yanmars is they are as simple as a hammer. I don't see a need to 'improve' it.


As for that cap with a gauge, and its float - don't you need an assistant to hold it for you while you pour a jug of diesel in the tank? I refuel outdoors and wouldn't want to set that wet float down in the dirt, or on the hood or a tire, for that matter. Just more un-needed complexity.
