Hello again hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I been looking around at air mist sprayers and priced a used one today at $3200 it was an A-1 Brand and it did not look very used and it was well kept. However I just cannot help but look at these things thinking....Is it really that costly to just D.I.Y. What i am thinking is starting with maybe an old cary-all frame and scrap steel, some shaft, pillow blocks. pulleys and belts and a squirrel cage fan. Now some of these items i already have but the specific stuff i will have to buy new or fabricate but that shouldn't be impossible to do. Anybody done this? I built a 20 ft boom sprayer last year but the upgrade would be nice for hillside spraying.

I have not built an "Air mist sprayer" as in the PTO-driven blower with mist nozzles in it. Actually I did not know that such a thing existed until you said it, and I googled it. But... As I was just now googling and watching videos of air mist sprayers, I am confident that my DIY spraying system achieves the same fine mist and the same long reach that they achieve. The only difference being that with mine, you have the option to hold the nozzle in your hand if you wish, and point it in a specific direction; even get off the tractor and take the nozzle with you on foot, up to 30ft, to get in/around/behind obstacles that can't be hit from the tractor. The PTO air mist blower might be more efficient though, but my sprayer could be modified for better efficiency.

The crop i intend to spray the most is pumpkins. with corn also a target crop at different times of course. strantor i really like your simple solution and it has a great possibilities for cost to build and simplicity i will definitely have to consider this example in my planning. just one question about it. Does it gravity feed into the pressure washer or do you have a small pump to push it in? as most home garden hoses have some pressure behind them.

Gravity feed only. I made sure to keep the bottom of barrel higher than the inlet of the pump and have no problems with it.
