Over the last 5 years we have been getting live trees for X-mas. Just this year we switched from white pines to Co blue spruce. The Whites all have lived with minimal care. I quit the whie pines this year because the cost, the Whites grow fast when bought small. But this year the Co blue spruce is a nice 7' full shape looked like a good deal at $80 bucks. The white pines at 6-7' $60+

Sure looks nice :)

I hope every body has a fine Holiday with family and friends

I think you'll be happy with the blue spruce , to me there a lot more full then the white pines . I 've planed about 100 pines a year for the last five years . this years I'm trying a norway spruce to see how they do .

The blue spruce is certainly a pretty tree, but like many people, we switched to artificial trees quite a few years ago.

Steph bought a 9 foot fake this year with the lights already attached. It's in three sections and without looking at instrucitons, she put it up in about ten minutes!!

It cost $130 and we love it.

The ex used to insist that we had a live tree with the roots balled. I would dig the hole in the fall and then cover the dug dirt with plywood so it wouldn't freeze. The dog thought that it was bringing the outdoors inside, so he would occasionally spot on it. Now that they are both gone, no trees except for those outside.:D

Always have and I hope always will have a live tree. Went to a tree farm with the grandkids this year and got a Leland Cypress I think they called it. It's so perfect we had to cut some limbs off to make a bad side for the wall. Seven feet tall around forty dollars. Merry Christmas

Mornin Patrick,
I love the blue spruce myself ! We always went out as a family years ago to cut our tree from a local tree farm. But as all things go by the wayside, the kids grew up and now we have a shhhsh FAKE tree :) Actually it looks pretty good with all the ornaments we have collected through the years along with a sufficient amount of lights ! And heck I dont have to worry about watering the tree anymore ;) :)

I guess when you ask about live trees, you are talking about trees that have the roots intact so you can plant it after Christmas.

We've never bought one of those -- we always cut down a live tree before bring it home -- so ours are always dead. But they are REAL, not artificial.

Gator, I'll bite. So when does the tree die, the moment you cut it?

I'll answer that one...

Just like in the western movies, when the good guy gets shot, and he's laying there, and everyone knows he's a gonner, they still offer him a drink of water.:D Same thing with a cut tree.

We kill a tree every year. There is a very nice tree farm near here. Any pine is $10.00. Any fir is $12.00. You cut, they cut, it doesn't matter. This year we drove in, cut a LARGE tree and jammed it into our van. I had a heck of a time fitting it in there with the wife and two kids, but we did it. We pulled up to pay and the guy looks in the window, then tells me "That'll be $24.00." I asked if the price went up. He said no, but that's what two fir trees cost. I had a heck of a time convincing him that was one tree. He wanted me to open the rear doors of the van. I told him I didn't want to for fear of it popping out like a jack-in-the-box!! He finally believed me when I showed him the stump between the seats and the kids eating pine branches in the back!!! :D:D:D
