Anybody else buy live trees for X-mas?

Yes, the pines/hardwoods are about 4 acres of former corn field, the existing mixed hardwoods are about 10 acres and a ridge runs N-S through them. The area to the right is about 6 acres that was corn when we bought it. Now it is mostly junk trees that are going to be going away. I want to turn about 3 acres into a wildflower medow. The right property line in blue is an old railroad grade that was offically abandoned last year, but has not had tracks for about 20 years. There is an old timber bridge where it crosses the creek.

That photo appears to have been taken this spring, as there are clear signs of my Power Trac brush hog eating around larger trees in that right field. Check out the attached photo. I am amazed at the detail...

The top arrow is where the road I built in 1992 hits the HWY. It is a gray, slag road. Runs past and around to the garage foundation that is clearly visible. There are two, old, Toyota Landcruiser tops on the ground N of the foundation. The last arrow is where we will build some day.

Youcan also see the hardwoods between the pines in this shot.

I'm thinking 1990 or '91... can't recall for sure. Bought the land in '89 or '90 and had the trees planted the following spring.

MossRoad,

Where did you get your trees? Where these the bare root types? I'm in Indiana too, just further South. How long ago did you plant? I wish I started years ago. Will be moving from our 20 wooded ac to our 3 ac lake lot. Though we are at the end of a 1 mi private road of vacation homes, we close house. I have been working on creating walls of pines around the perimeter.

Here's some links for Indiana...
