I'll check the strut out but it seems to me that the hood is hitting the frame of the radiator. Under the hood there is a small bracket where the pin is that catches the latch on the tractor. The bracket on the hood is prevented from going down far enough to catch the latch on the radiator frame.
I was able to remove the springs on the hood and then slam it down as hard as I could...and the hood will latch. But I don't see any other way than to grind metal.
I think I could just grind the bracket on the hood that holds the pin...where it has been hitting so much that both the bracket on the hood and radiator frame shows signs of repeated contact. Does my description make any since?
I think the air filter is good to go because I do that daily, but I will double check.
I try posting some pics next few days of days but I'm so booked that I'm just going with it.
Thanks for the brainstorm idea of the strut and air filter!
