Well, I'm gonna try.. I bought a i1046 and I just don't like it. I love the zero turn part. The gas pedal is just to hard to push down and hold it at speed and it is very slow. So far the dealer has looked at it and said nothing is wrong.. I called Customer service at mtd and they said they would do all they could to make me happy, so I called the dealer back and gave them the name of the rep I spoke to.. We will see what happens.. I did mow with it 1 time. I really need a mower, but this thing just tires out my leg trying to hold down the pedal, how weird is that

I don't have any experience there. I haven't visited the dealer for parts/service yet. I'm thinking in your case, if nothing is actually broken, you'll have to keep climbing the CC/MTD chain to get anything done. Too bad you didn't get it from one of the home/hardware centers, you could just return it (the ONLY good thing about buying non-dealer).

Al, we haven't had any problems with those tractors yet. I would wonder if maybe the paint and a lack of initial lubrication might be the cause. Most of the foot operated machines are to be operated with the heel on the deck, only requireing the ankle to flex a bit to go forward.
The fact that you've only mowed once with it and it's newness might be the problem. I can understand your concern but first I'd be sure the petal is able to move freely as well as the controls from there to the transmission.

Joel,
Now thats a good one..Only thing is, it should be the same where ever you bought it.
My first attempt at talking to MTD was a good one.. They did say they would do what ever it takes to make me happy. I told my dealer that and I told the 2 of them to hook up and figure out what to do.
Art, I did check myself all of the movement of the parts. Everything is working freely. It needs a new pedal design. It needs to be longer ( to change the leverage ratio) and curved back toward the drivers right foot.

Well, the dealer called me back today and said I could trade it in on an 08.. Not sure what that would help unless the pedal is different...

I am not sure what the pedal looks like on your mower or how it is set up but you might want to try a couple other models and see if you notice a difference. It could just be a case of you needing to get use to this mower. When I first bought my GT1554 I was not happy with using the hydro pedal but then again it was my first hydro so it took some getting use to. Now I like it but I don't really love it by any means. I get done with my lawn easily twice as fast as I did with the old 42" cut Ranch King.

You might also want to try out a couple other brands and see how their pedal set up is before you trade this in so you have an idea just what is out there.

You might take a beating on that trade though. I lock him in on some details before you push forward on that one. IMO, if you want 'ultimate Cub Cadet comfort', you will need to go to a big and roomy 1500 series (lawn tractor) or step up to a 3K series garden tractor. They offer the most room. My 2544 isn't bad, but it's seating is tight and sort of high-up awkward.

Joel, some of us WNY TBN members are having a get together this spring. If you are interested check out the North East section of the Meetings and get togethers forums. Right now it looks like we are leaning towards having lunch in or around Batavia.

I am sorry to hear about your pedal dilemma. My pedal feels the same as my LT1042 that I sold. IOW, not noticeable. I have seen this in several threads. I hope that you don't end up having to get a different mower over this. Best - Ted

Well, my dealership called me today and said to bring it back. He said he just got off the phone with CC and they OKed it.
I hate it didn't work out.. The Salesman I was working with was great.

I love the way the i1046 worked.. just the stupid gas pedal was to dang hard to push..
Oh well. This journey is over.
