Anybody every repaired a Eurocardan twist collar pto?

Attached the mower to the tractor last weekend, thought the pto collar locked on but about 10 minutes later the shaft came off the tractor. Looking at it then, two of the three ball bearings were stuck back inside. One of them I've freed but the other one just will not come forward. I can order a repair kit for it, but unless I can get it apart it isn't going to help.

In the attached parts diagram, I have removed A, B & C but I cannot remove the collar D to get access to the bearings. In order to pull it off it appears I need to twist the collar past the roll pin (show in the photo), but it will NOT twist that far, not even close - it hits a hard stop. Not sure if that hard stop is the stuck bearing stopping it or something else.

Hoping somebody out there has already wrestled with this issue and won.

I've done this exact same thing. Oh boy was I mad at myself! In my case, the twist connect completely blew apart. What was left was a regular push pin connector. All the twist connect did was activate the pin. I quit flogging myself and was back at it as soon as I cleaned the now extra bits off. Good luck with yours.
