I have about settled on one and am trying to figure out how to transport it.
I have a 5x8 Tractor Supply trailer with flip up rear gate/ramp that I have added wood floorboards to but I am not sure if: 1. a Teryx would fit on it and 2. if the weight is not too much to use it to trailer out to my farm and back on a regular basis. The trailer is rated at 1500-1600 pounds and the Teryx is 1300-1400 pounds in weight.
I need the trailered Teryx to fit in my crowded garage and so I need the smallest trailer possible.
Anyone have any experience with this?

I have a 2009 Teryx and haul it on a 6x12 ramp gate trailer with 3500 lb axle. It fits on just right. Enough width not to scratch up the Terxy, can get on a off easily and the ramp gate folds up completely. The Teryx is 116.4" long and 58.7" wide. The teryx is too long for a 5x8' trailer, especially with ramp gate. Teryx weighs about 1400 lbs. Your trailer probably weighs 400+ lbs. Your trailer is over weighted. Bottom line - you need a bigger trailer.

It always amazes me when I see a $20K Harley on a $500 trailer. Your trying to fit a $11K Terxy on a too small and under rated trailer.

Would it fit on a 6x10?

Being as the machine in question is 116.4" long and 58.7" wide and a 6x10 trailer (assuming that we are talking about the cargo space of the trailer bed) is 120" long and 64" wide, it should just fit on a 6x10 trailer.
I would recommend a 6x12 if you are buying a trailer as then you can shift the machine a little when loading to get the weight distributed properly.

Even a 6x10 is going to be a barely fit in the garage and I can't secure it if its sitting outside.

How much of the rated capacity of the trailer do you need to leave in reserve?
IE - the Teryx wieghs 14-1500 pounds and the trailer is rated at 2180lbs of payload. Is that enough cushion?

That would be enough for me IF that rating is the cargo carrying capacity. Is this a trailer that weighs 819#, has a 3500# axle but the trailer is rated for a max weight of 2999# to avoid needing brakes?
If so and you dont plan on having a lot of gear in the Tyrex when trailering it you should be ok.
As a caution, if the machine weighs 1500# with all fluids and you have 500# of gear in it you could overload the trailer real quick.

Will you be pulling this trailer very far or very often? If so, I would recommend getting something with brakes, it will make towing much more enjoyable.

If the overall length is the problem with fitting a trailer in your garage, then look into installing a fold-away tongue so you can get that 10-12ft trailer and not worry about the long tongue sticking out. Also, I wouldn't bother looking for a trailer with brakes unless the total load was going to be over 3,500lbs. It is completely unnecessary for lighter loads and just another headache with brake controllers and electric brakes randomly locking up or surge brakes that require a lot of maintenance, and add extra weight.

When looking at load capacity of a trailer, look for the GVWR and trailer curb weight. Subtract the curb weight of the trailer from the GVWR to find the load capacity. Also, if you see a trailer that has a GVWR of say 3,000lbs and the trailer weighs 1,000lbs and they say the load capacity is more then 2,000lbs, that is because they are including the tongue weight (approx 10-15%) in the load capacity which is on the truck and not the trailer. Confused yet...? :p :D

A 6x10 is not as common as a 6x12, probably because the cost is not much different. A 6x10 but should fit with ramp gate but depends on how they measure the length of the bed. A 6x10 tilt bed would be no problem for length and the Teryx could over hang the back a little if needed.

A 3000-3500 lb axle trailer would be ideal. I also agree, that axle brakes are not that critical for a trailer of that size with the weight you are carrying. I found my 6x12 ramp gate trailer for $300 but that was a rare find. Trailer was 10 years old, but only used for a couple hundred miles. Some trailers are rated for 2999 GVWR but still have 3500 lb axles. The lower rating is required by some states to avoid the required use of axle brakes on trailers rated over 3000 lbs.

Thanks for all the replies.
The trailer I am looking by Magnum is single axle rated at 3500lbs, 15" car sized wheels/tires, 2995 GVWR and 2180 carrying capacity. The tongue is enclosed by a V running almost all the way out to the hitch so the folding tongue will not fit. I guess the garage will need to be devoted to the trailer pretty much which is kind of a pain but what can you do?
I'd be towing it with an F150 and could put any extra gear in the truck bed so it would not have to sit on the trailer. Most all of the towing would be from the house to the farm and back - around 45 miles round trip. Might be a couple of trips in a week or none depending on how muddy the farm is and what work I was doing.
I would also need to initially tow the Teryx back from the dealer I am going to purchase from which is about 190 miles away.
So it sounds like the trailer will do all this with a reasonable reserve. At this point I am using the standard bumper hitch the truck came with on the rare occasions that I pull the 5x8 trailer I already have. Is 23-2400 pounds too much for that type of hitch?
