Short version-
Need a metal fan for the condenser on our 19 year old Whirlpool model GS6SHEXML00.
Seems like they discontinued the metal fan, and only sell plastic.
So I need a recommendation for a source.

Long version
Daughter organized her siblings to buy the frig for us from the Sears Outlet in 2005. Note the price then was list $2,300, outlet $1,600.
Been operating fine since installed in our Virginia house.
Started making fan noise, traced to condenser fan motor about 2 weeks ago, sounds like a small electric drill under load. Lasts for 5 to 10 seconds. Still keeps everything cold.
Wife and I were in Mississippi until last Sunday. Got home, first time I heard it "go off" was last night.

It seems to be a common problem, replacement doesn't look too tricky, buying the part does.

PartSelect, appliancepartspros, searspartsdirect and a couple of others list the Condenser Motor Kit, but all with plastic fans. The kits run around $100. Amazon has chinese copies of the kit for ~$20, BUT NO DARN METAL FAN, ALL PLASTIC. Reviews on Amazon indicate problems with the plastic fans.

I'd like to get the oem motor and metal fan.

The wife wants a new frig, her pick, at the cost of about $2,500 AFTER DISCOUNT.

So if I can repair it for ~$100 she can spend more money on things like a second set of Speed Queen washer/dryer.

So any TBN'ers have recommendations for an online source?

Here's a great place in my area, they may have a location near you or you can order from them.

Good luck finding a metal fan.

Anyhow, this is a local store to us. Used to be called Bell Parts, but was bought out by Reliable Parts about a decade ago. They have locations in 10 or so states. Give it a try. Can't hurt.

Sometimes you can find out of stock parts on eBay if you know the correct part number.
