The Razr is 4G, right? It switches to 3G when there is no 4G service available. Lucky in Charleston as 4G is here. My Droid x2 is only 3G capable, though, but that's still fast enough for me. I think the 4G kills batteries faster, too.

My understanding is when you go 4g, they will take you off unlimited data

Edit: Just found this. Looks like you have to pay an unsubsidized price to keep the old plan, but it hasn't started yet, I guess.

Verizon Unlimited Data Plans: FAQ | PCWorld

I went from a 1st gen droid to the RAZR and still have unlimited data. I guess I got my phone at the right time!

I live right on the fringe of a 4G coverage area, but where I work is 3g. The phone will switch back and forth between 3 and 4 G depending on which is stronger.

supposedly a 4g capable phone will use less power on 4g that it will on 3g.
like I said before, mine sucks the power down when I am not at home. but seems slightly better on power consumption at home.

My wife has had an Iphone for 6 months now she liked her older device better that one was an LG with the flip-out keyboard (Envy or something like that).

just spoke to a buddy that works at vzw corporate...seems they are going to let people keep their unlimited if they pay full retail for phones...so all is good.

Full retail for many newer phones is $600-$700...how is that good?

You pay for that in a plan anyways. They subsidize the phones so that you sign up for those 2 years of service. That said, you won't save any money by buying a phone at full retail then getting a service contract so you do have a point...
