I have been out some, not nearly enough and seen some, not nearly enough deer. Hoping to get out tonight.

Wondering if anyone else is getting out and what kind of success they are having.

Afternoon Tororider,
Ive never hunted deer, but just rescently I have a chance to pick up a used Remington model 700 30-06 with scope for a very good price ! I may join the ranks soon, up till this point the only hunting I have done is some bird hunting many years ago but that could change soon ! ;) Time will tell ! :)

Afternoon,
Hunting season has been open about a month here. I took of Mondays and Tuesdays to have 4 day weekends for hunting. It has worked out well so far. We have a northern tier and southern tier season. First pic is during muzzleloader season (5pt). Then a 4pt during rifle season. Now I have to wait for southern tier to open to use doe permits. the tractor sure comes in handy.

Afternoon Tororider, our party of eight harvested five on opening weekend of firearms season last week, but no big bucks,we were seeing them earlier bowhunting but they have disappeared into the woods. going back up tonight after work to try again for the weekend,we still have another 8 or 9 days left for regular firearms then we have to bring out the smoke poles or the bows to finish out the year. Good luck, Mike

We have about three more weeks before regular rifle season starts, bowhunting has been going on for awhile. I lost my interest in killing deer, not sure why, age maybe. My down-the-road neighbors hunt here and she shot a 13 pt last year and he got a 7 pt. When my sweet corn was growing we had deer everywhere and they did a job on my patches. I enjoy watching the fawns every spring.

Yeah, I have been bow hunting for over a month, it opens every Oct 1st. Have seen a bunch of deer, nothing big and haven't gotten a shot at anything worth shooting at yet. Could have jumped on top of a button buck, but that would have been the only fun thing to do with it, too small to shoot.

Shotgun starts Nov. 15th every year, so the next few weeks should be fun. Hope to post some pictures soon.

And everyone else, I would love to hear some stories.

I think there are only 2-3 deer in Kalifornia that are not on private property:eek:

I'm actually hunting for a Fed duck stamp. I should have got it early, but didn't. Seasons open, but I have not been out. Have heard birds are slow right now, Northern birds have not come down yet. Do know of a couple guys who have gotten limits a few times though... They're really good shots, and good callers...

My Dad (71) and my son (16) got these on opening day (11 Oct):

I got this one, exactly a week later, 10 points, 175 pounds. Dad's was definitely bigger but we did not weigh it.:

They were all killed from the same stand which was overlooking the only trees around with acorns. The acorns are gone now.....and so are the deer. But, the rut will start soon.

I've seen a few small bucks and very few does since then. My food plots are pitiful (no rain). But, with the opening week we had this has been a good season even if we don't get anything else. I do plan on shooting some does later in the season.

Firearms season opens tomorrow here. I'm pretty casual about it, just as well be comfortable:

Lots of folks around here use the setup that you have, we call them buck huts. Some are quite fancy with heat and cooking facilities.;)
