Anybody use Napa hydraulic oils in Mahindra?

I'm tired of trying to find the very limited hydraulic oils that Mahindra specs for 7520. The engine oil is easy enough to find, but the list of compatible hydraulic oils are not available in my area. Specifically:
1. Chevron 1000 THF
2. Texaco TDH Oil Special

Is there really a difference between this and Napa's? Or tractor supply, advance auto, etc.?

I can only speak to my BX. I went with universal hyd. fluid from Advance auto one time. After 2hrs run time I notice the tractor was not feeling the same. I checked the fluid level and no problem. Later I smelled hot oil. Sure enough the universal oil was heating up.

I drained it and had the distinct smell of burned oil. Went to Kubota and got the SUDT2 oil and all was well again.

I stay with what the manufacturer recommends.

I suspect only small difference between the conventional oils. I use KUBs SUDT to go a step better.

For my 2008 Mahindra 5525 my dealer recommended any decent quality fluid that meets the John Deere 303 spec. So I use Tractor Supply Traveller universal tractor hydraulic fluid. The 303 spec is an old spec but many hydraulic fluid manufacturers still test their THF to ensure that this spec is met. It's a legacy thing, I suppose.

Don't know if your 7520 is different for some reason.

If SCHAEFFER'S is available in your area go with #315 SIMPLEX SUPREME and be good for LIFE, If not go with the cheap stuff such as TSC TRAVELLER .

I get 424 from the local Exxon/Mobil distributor.

I use NAPA 85-405 in my BX and have had no problems, the so called whine factor others talk about if not using KUBOTA SUDT-2 did not occur in my case. 1500 hours should be a decent test.

Flusher, yes the 303 spec was fine for the simple transmission and hydraulics on the 5525 and it was the norm for years, but for most models we now suggest they should meet JD20C specs. The JD20C spec is pretty current and not so hard to find. Or use Mahindra fluid if you are near a dealer.
