I am considering trading my 4340C for a little more HP .... Here's what I am finding ... NOT ONE Montana dealer willing to even quote me a price difference...they simply want me to buy a new one!!

Whats with that????

Hmmm, what IS it about dealers that they would NOT want to replace a NEW tractor on their lot with a smaller USED tractor ?

Maybe they would rather replace that new tractor on the lot with another new one.
Maybe even a NEW'er one, say a 2010 model vs a 2009 (or '08) one ?

Yeah, I'd bet thats it; They just wanna be Noooooo tractor sales dudes, not a used tractor sales lot.

Just a guess on my part and I have no idea if this holds true for your dealer, but aren't most dealers in all reality fairly small outfits? They don't really have the money setting around to have setting around in a used tractor.:( This applies to a lot of dealers and not just Montana dealers. For them to give you a trade in amount, it most likely would have to be pretty low and that would make you unhappy also. Unless your dealer moves a lot of tractors, it would be hard to move a good used machine for much money. People would rather buy new when the price is about the same and then throw in financing and the new tractor is actually less money.

That is most likely why no one will give you a trade in value, and with the economy the way that it is and all.

Just my opinion

Awfully harsh LB. 1*Why does a fine tractor like that have "no trade in value"?
John
1*If the dealer won't deal with him on it then there is no trade in available which in turn equals no trade in value.

2*LB, why no trade in value? Is it because it isn't a Kubota BX?:rolleyes:

3*Could very well be the case.

It looks like a nice tractor... however, these days it can be tough to compete with financing offers made by mfrs to sell new equipment. I'd put an ad in your local paper and sell it outright. You'll generally do a bit better than trade-in (the dealer simply must offer lower than retail since he's taking on the risk of resale. After all, they need to be profitable). While you're waiting for it to sell, pick out the replacement. Good luck!

Mike
