I've five or six saws, from a couple of 35cc to a 120CC Stihl 088 and I realize the energy packed in a quart of fuel mix makes a 2 Cycle saw an ideal tool ON THE GROUND

But when I get up 20 to 30 feet in a tree to do trim limbs I'd like to NOT have to pull start a saw. And I've many trees to do that on.

So does anyone have the Kobalt (Lowes)?

What I'd really like is a top handle that operated off two DeWalt 20V max batteries :)

dewalt does make a 40v chainsaw, so does husqvarna, stihl, oregon, makita, and others i'm sure. as far as i know husqvarna is the only one with a top handle electric 536li xp. and stihl is supposed to be coming out with the msa 160t. i've been thinking about getting one, would be very handy in tree

I've the Kobalt 40v. Think I've discovered that its chain set stub, that normally is adjustable via a screw, isn't. The chain came off recently, and I cannot locate the chain tightener screw. Got the chain back on.

It's a good tool. Never have used it enough at one time to exhaust the 2.0 amp-hr battery (that's all it takes; won't take the 4.0). It's far more powerful than the couple of 18v B&D chain saws that I have.

I've a heart ICD implant (like a pacemaker) and am not allowed to use a spark ignition engine now anywhere close to it.

I have wanted one for 4 wheeling, but last time I looked to expensive when including battery and charger. The Stihl was $600.

Lowes has it (cs, battery, charger, bar, chain) for $300 w/ a coupon for a FREE second 80V battery.

I got my wife the Oregon 40V as she never can pull start a gas chainsaw. I use it more than her for cleaning up limbs that fall and small saplings. Get extra batteries and a rapid charger if you want to do any big jobs. It will cut anything a gas saw will, just may take a little longer, and has an chain sharpener built in.

A buddy had a 40 volt Oregon that his mom uses. I don't care much for it because it weighs as much as my 30cc gas saw. As far as the saw it seems to cut pretty decent with decent battery life. It is perfect for his mom because she can't pull a gas saw, and doesn't need to keep up with gas. ( I don't think she knows it needs bar oil )

My FIL has the Oregon, it worked pretty well, but he needed something a little bigger and that would run a little longer, so he got a small Stihl to match his bigger FarmBoss.

Here is a board with several different ones. Some are top handle. http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/cordless-battery-ope-corded-electric/
Thanks, good link

Like I wrote, I've plenty of saws. My "problems" are starting up high in trees and running under the noise ordinance in Alexandria, Va. I'm an early riser and like to "beat the heat".
By March 28th the sun rises before I can make "noise". In the summer I lose the first few cool hours.

And when I get up in trees even my Stihl 021 takes 2 pulls to get it going.
