Anybody with tracks on a RTV 500?

i have them for my rhino.They work awsome.Go anywhere you want to go.Just loke mini dozer

Say, how do you like the rhino over all? Any maintenance or performance problems? When I test drove a 450 I had a hard time shifting it out of reverse. Do you mostly use it for work or play? Just wondering if I should rethink choosing a rtv.

Power is my #1 concern. If the 500 can't spin the tracks then they would be pointless. I've read a lot of reviews from guys that don't like the rtv's slow speed and power on hills as it sits with tires but I've driven others like the rhino and ranger and they really are two different machines for different uses.

I think alot of the complaints about power and slow hill climbs with the RTV 500 were the first ones introduced, as time went on I believe dealers became better at setting up the engine speed/ hydro and that took care of most of the power problems. My RTV 500 goes great, you can start at the base of a pretty steep hill barely rolling, tromp down on it and be doing 20+ by the time you get to the top of the hill, I also never "run out of power" I haven't need to shift out of high range to make a hill as some other folks have either but I also just bought my unit last March so the dealer had set up and tweaked several before I got mine.:thumbsup:

There, thank you! I needed to hear from an owner about all that. I wonder if my dealer knows about setting them like that, he must. He said they have sold about 30 since they came online 3 or so years ago. I'll ask him about modification. I'm concerned that the low hp will "bog down" with the tracks on them but if the unit is a little tank anyway it might do nicely.

So I don't get cold feet after buying the rtv 500 I think I'll ask guys on here about the new bobcat 3400. It is a bit larger, more hp, cvt drive line, larger payload and better rear suspension. Might run tracks better but when I drove it I didn't notice a lot of extra power and it was louder. Hard to beat the kubota there even with the fan kicking in.

Depending on where you live you likely won't hear the fan too often. Mine has kicked on a handful of times but I live in Maine so it's fairly cool here most of the time. The first time it kicked on I was using a DR Power Grader to resurface the driveway, I hit panic mode thinking my hydro pump was cavitating....I shut it down immediately and started checking for leaks and fluid levels but everything checked out fine. I finally figured out what it was when I turned my key on getting ready to start the engine again.:laughing:

You asked about the 450 Rhino,I purchased mine new in 2006,use it daily,it has about 2000 miles right now....asolutely no problems ,change the oil in the spring,just replaced the original tires.Decent on fuel,right size for me.I use it for recreation and my business.:thumbsup:
