I keep on getting emails from unknown sources with subject lines that consist of 4 or 5 seemingly random lowercase alphacharacters. When ever I open them up they contain a link, which I don't click on because for all I know they contain viruses.
Examples:
Subject: ynioa
Subject: qqqdy
I've forwarded them t my ISP's "phishing" center, but never get a reply.

sounds like the Ghost of Christmas past is trying to get in touch with you

I don't open such email and I certainly don't click on any links. My email handler has a Junk button and my ISP flags most spam. Pretty easy to simply send them to the bit-bucket.

Yeah, I (indeed, most people I know) have been getting these for a few weeks now on my mobile.
They typically say that I've missed a 'voice message' and a 'link' is provided.
The spelling of the text is not only atrocious but is, somehow, getting worse!
All deleted.

I do remember the very first one like this that I received: I'd apparently won second prize from a major store that I frequent. :D

I don't get exactly that type. Ones I get want to sell me stuff. I don't open them so I don't know if there is a link or not. Just send them to the junk bucket.

Command and control. If your computer is compromised scammers use these strings to issue new commands telling your malware to phone home. If you leave your computer on and connected to the network 24/7 then you may have already been compromised.

Recently I've been getting phone calls advising me of credit card oddball usage, eg possible scams.
LOL, same voice each time but with different amounts.
Always say first charge was minimal followed by a larger one and usually 1/2 way across the globe.
My tip off is--"this is your CC company calling" , (like not City Visa or whatever.)
I just hang up.

My favorite spam e-mail is subject line, "someone tried to login to your Facebook account".

I've never had a facebook account and probably never will.

For the rest of the suspected junk mail, I hover my curser over the row and wait to see the senders e-mail address. In my case, spam e-mails usually are gmail.com. Actual business end in thier business name. examples; homedepot.com azurestandard.com

I asked my son about the unsolicited email I receive. He laughed and said - "Dad, don't visit those sex web sites." And this from my loving son ............

The spam texts that I've been receiving (bad spelling and always include a 'link') seem to change scenarios every other week.
Today's text-spam was a warning to click the link from a Bank as my 'account details' had been compromised.
Of course, I don't deal with that Bank. Nor would any Bank contact a customer in this fashion.
