It seems like I'm going through a lot of hoses and fluid this summer. Some are from dumb luck, like my disc getting unhooked and pulling out the lines, and the newer line that blew when it was rubbing against the loader. I bet ya I've replaced at least 5 lines already this year and repaired the braiseing where the steel line goes into the bottom of the tractor. ( just yesterday)And now the same steel line has a pinhole leak right under the gas tank. I know it won't work but I'm going to put a rubber hose around it and use a bunch of pipe clamps, hopefully it will slow it down. I'm sick of it, and all the money I've spent on fluid already. I'm so busy with the tractor right now that I can't take a couple of days to fix it. Sorry for the vent, I'm just really pissed right now. Did they put something in the fluide to eat the lines or what?

Hey brother, I know its frustrating at times, but remember the old saying, take time to stop and smell the roses. When you get frustrated with something its better to take a time out, and gather your thoughts. The time you spend in repairing may save you a lot more time than trying to patch and still go wide open. Small hydraulic leaks do not get better, only worse. I mean unless its a life threating situation it will still be there for you handle when you get back, calm, cool, and collective, which will make it easier to handle. We all have these days. So just take a deep breath BRO. zman

Wouldn't be summer if I didn't have to replace at least one line... some are all steel and others are flexible braided...

I chalk it up to Bulldozers being hard on stuff.

It's just that I've got some out of town work coming up and I will be leaving on wed. There's still a lot to do. I was going to cut and bale 20 acres of field, and spread manure, disc, and plant another 12 more. I decided to only cut 1 of the fields, and it looks like I should be able to get the other one planted.

I have issues with hydraulic lines this year too. Not near enough of them blowing out. I'm ready to get my cordless drill out and go wacking some lines. This is terrible!

New lines are almost seeming reasonable now. Fluid prices have gone nutso. Locally, it has gone up a tad over $3 a gallon in bulk (now at 11.00 per). Blew an 1 1/4 line and lost 20 gallons :(

Wow.. I think the last time I looked at RuralKing I could still get 5 gal for under $35.00.. Not cheap but certainly not $55. Now I'm not using some fancy schmacy name brand fluid. Just generic that say's it meets spec.
The again my tractor is 42 years old. Not quite as picky as a newer one.
Oops just check.. They are having a sale..

Guess I'll have to make a trip this week and pick a 20 gal or so.

An interesting comment on how perception can make all the difference.. LOL!

I understand the frustration, and I'm the type who just can't sleep until something is fixed and fixed right.

But then I think about the "real" problems I, the boss or mini-boss could have and I'm perfectly content with stabilizer cyls. that slowly leak down, the rebuild will be a winter project, will be good for the mini-boss to learn how cylinders work.
