I'm in Toronto area and have been clearing and excavating a 60' by 120' area to put in a clay court. I've researched it quite a bit, I am looking to keep costs down, and have ruled out a hardcourt. I don't think I'll mind doing maintenance on the court, particularly since I have a tractor and various implements. Besides, I figure the clay will be more fun than a hardcourt which is almost everywhere.

There is a product called "Aglime" (i.e. dry screening agricultural limestone) which I can get for much less than trucking in Har-Tru. Its been used successfully for a long time at a major club or two around here. It's a beige color which sets up very hard and can play faster than most clay courts. Anyway, sounds like the key to a quality clay tennis court construction is level and compact many times over

Any comments or experience with the above?
