I have a mixed flock of chickens and a guy I know give me some game chicks,I have a few of these running with my other chickens now.
To answer your question,"why did I ask" to be quite truthful, just to see how many people would step forward.
These game chickens are a hardy breed, they are good egg layers and a beautiful bird. The hens are very protective of their chicks. I was afraid when the guy give me those chicks I would have problems with the stags fighting when they grew, but they seem to have accepted each other as a non threat and get along quite well. Now if you kept 2 of them seperated for a long time and turned them loose, then they would challenge each other for sure.It is funny,I have some guineas as well and they kinda "rule the roost"when all the chickens are eating these guineas get quite aggressive, but I have this one big old game and he will turn around backwards and face as many as 5 or 6 guineas at a time and it is quite amusing to see him defending himself (the guineas do not know what to think because he stands up to them, and the rooster does not know what to think because he has so many adversaries looking down at him). We have one guinea and one game rooster that are inseparable, they roam together from daylight to dark.
Anyway...........
As my dad use to say:You can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy.
