Anyone ever been to the rooster fights?

Yep, went to the rooster fights one time; January '66, to see what it was like, and one time was enough. I think you have to be a little sadistic to enjoy things like that (and the bull fighting), and the folks I saw at the rooster fights I do believe were the craziest bunch of gamblers I've ever seen.

I watch the rooster fights all the time. I have 9 bantum roosters, they are too young to have spurs so they don't hurt one another. They sure pull some funny stunts though.

Cock fighting has been popular in this area going back to at least the 18th century. Even after it was made illegal, the law was seldom inforced. In fact, at some large fights it was amazing who you might see in the crowd. The one and only time I went, sitting in the front row, complete with a cigar, and a fist full of money was the county clerk.
To a large extent is still is that way. Occasionally, the ASPCA, or some other group kicks up a fuss. A local TV station might run a story, but thats about it. I know of a couple of people who raise game cocks. Right now I have a neighbor who has a slew of them, I doubt he is raising them because he thinks they're cute.
Now, what ever made you ask such a question?

I have a mixed flock of chickens and a guy I know give me some game chicks,I have a few of these running with my other chickens now.
To answer your question,"why did I ask" to be quite truthful,just to see how many people would step forward.
These game chickens are a hardy breed,they are good egg layers and a beautiful bird.The hens are very protective of their chicks. I was afraid when the guy give me those chicks I would have problems with the stags fighting when they grew,but they seem to have accepted each other as a non threat and get along quite well.Now if you kept 2 of them seperated for a long time and turned them loose,then they would challenge each other for sure.It is funny,I have some guineas as well and they kinda "rule the roost"when all the chickens are eating these guineas get quite aggressive,but I have this one big old game and he will turn around backwards and face as many as 5 or 6 guineas at a time and it is quite amusing to see him defending himself (the guineas do not know what to think because he stands up to them,and the rooster does not know what to think because he has so many adversaries looking down at him). We have one guinea and one game rooster that are inseparable,they roam together from daylight to dark.

Yea, they are very hardy. From past experiance when they run with other chickens they don't seem to be any more aggresive than any other chicken. I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but people who raise them for fighting keep roosters seperate. They give them a little A frame house and keep them tied by one leg. Maybe it makes them more territorial.
I have a couple of guineas, and chickens. Mine are the same way. When I feed, I have to use two feeders, otherwise the chickens get to eat only after the guineas are finished, and only after they decide to wander off.

I have this one game rooster I bought from a guy for $25.00,he is what they call a "grey"when I got him he had his spurs trimmed so they could put the artifical spurs on for fighting.Well since he is now just a regular barn yard rooster,his natural spurs have grown back to about 3"? I would say. After dark out in the chicken house,I was closing the birds up for the day and he was standing on the floor,I shined the flashlight down to the floor around my feet and scooted my foot towards him and man did he come alive,he was spurring my leg and flogging etc,I had insulated coveralls on and it hurt my shins he could hit so hard,those old boys that fight them I heard have said pound for pound there is not anything that hits any harder.

Never been. I remember two girls going at it fists to skulls in high school and if its anything like that, count me out.
