In the continuing quest to make up to the wife for having overspent on the posthole digger, and the fact she has a major birthday around the corner, I am thinking of putting together a greenhouse.

Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions? I will have to prudent financially, keep it to cedar and plastics (no glass) but I think this could be a fun project...

I built this 10'x10' sunshed about 5 years ago--salt box design with Lexan windows and inexpensive siding from Home Depot. More like a potting shed than a greenhouse but it was a challenge to my limited carpentry skills, nevertheless.

Well, flusher, that looks very good for you not having any skills. I will be building an earth bermed solar greenhouse this summer using tires with compressed earth as the rear and side walls. We're fortunate to have a sloped place facing trus south for it to be dug into and can get the tires for free from the local tire shops.

Global warmimg hasn't hit us. I doubt if our corn will even make it this year let alone the winter squash. So, after flirting with the idea for a few years, It's time to get dirty. Thankfully, the neighbor has a large backhoe to dig with which also saves on the out of pocket expense.

That is a great idea on the tires Baldy, I am thinking of doing one into the hill and trying some small fruit trees and was thinking cement for sidewalls but the tires would be easier and hold the heat better. Please post pics of your progress or start a thread for it.
