I owned a 1980 Wrangler CJ7 a few years ago, it finally got so rusted out it became uninspectable. I loved every minute of owning it. One of these day I will definatly buy another one. I don't expect to ever buy a new one. I only want it for 3 season use, so some day I will pick up a nice used one.

I had a 1946 CJ2-A and a 1980 CJ5. Loved 'em both. The CJ2-A had 511 gears, flathead 4 and a top speed of about 45-50. The three drawbacks to Jeeps I saw were the rough ride, no cargo room and inability to lock stuff up inside. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I had stereos, speakers, books and stuff stolen from inside. I was throw out of my CJ5 while 4-wheelin in 1981. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif My hands were on the wheel but my body was outside beside the Jeep. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Pucker factor of 11 on that ride! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I've always buckled up in every vehicle I've owned since then.
They are fun vehicles, though. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I had a new Wrangler in '89 and I loved it. It was fun to drive. Never had any problems with it at all.

I have always loved the look of the Wrangler, and ever since I was about 15, I've wanted to have one. I never even driven in one, but still to this day always stare at them when I see them on the road.

I drive 40 miles to work (one way), and 30 of those miles are interstate highway. From what I have read, I don't believe I would enjoy driving that on a daily basis on the highway. Would I be correct in my assumption?

I wish I had some spare money just to buy one as an extra vehicle to use strictly for fun. Maybe someday.

Last one I owned was 87' 2.5L 5spd had a blast with it! The new one have a very nice suspension still a little bucking but that comes with the short wheel base. If you don't go "offroad" much the sport is great, the rubicon has some very good option as part of the package. The hard core still though out the axles and put in monster stuff, but the rubicon axles are a good upgrade for most fun stuff. Side note, the heat, defrost and A/C actualy work on the new jeeps /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Take it for a test drive if your doing auto and A/C make sure you get the the big engine otherwise its a real dog, real, real, real, dog if you put the same or large tires on it like the Rubicon.

Cheers, have fun

I have had a couple of CJ 5's, a 74 and an 80. I also had a 79 J-10 truck. The truck was a good runner but the bodies won't hold up. The Jeeps CJ's are a lot of fun and a good little hunting, utility vehicle. But as mentioned earlier, the content security is non existant. They travel real well through the snow, but be sure you carry some blankets. Those rag tops do not hold the heat in very well and it gets cold. If you want a great little second vehicle, get a Jeep, but they don't do well as primary, highway transportation.

Hard or soft top..neither hold in the heat but the new heaters work very well. Kept mine for 2 winters (soft top summer, winter H/top) never had a problem. Including some stupidly cold days upnorth sking (michigan). Put over 25k on it the first year mostly hwy. New ones are nothing like the older ones in the ride department

I loved driving mine all the time. It wasn't like the older jeeps that beat you to death. The ride was very smooth. With the hard top it was just like driving a car. With the soft top on it was a little noisy.
