I have been using my Beaver as a log skidder and dragging logs out to cut up for firewood. I found it pulls good but as a typical man, I think it could be better. I have played with weights on the front but don't want to chance tearing up the front axle. So, the next logical step in my idle brain was dual rear wheels. Has anyone else tried such?
I just went back to work for a 3 week stretch without a day off. I can use anything to get my mind off work. I am also broke so there is no chance of me trying it anytime soon. Just looking for ideas to ponder.

I'm in favor of dual beavers! :D

Weight is still the best option (even mid- or rear-mounted) vs. more tire surface area for increasing pulling capability. In theory, more surface area should not increase pulling force at all, although in practice it can due to the potential of added "bite" area into the surface. I think duals are more for increased floatation than anything.

Duels would aid traction but having broken a number of bolts on my Beaver over the years, I would be leery of putting that additional leverage out there. All of those bolts were at the axle housings. :D

Add judicious weight to the front... but be gentle and don't beat the tar out of it. Always make sure you keep the bolts tight. Most of the things I've broken have been either due to abuse or loose bolts. Sometimes both.
