I aquired a liftgate hydraulic unit the other day, it's an older unit.
253170 is on the tag. It has a square tank (that I had to put a new bottom in).
I have had NO luck finding any info, I need a wiring diagram for the electronic solonoids on the valves. I'm pretty sure it's a power up/down version. I would like to use it in a power up/gravity down configuration.
any help greatly appreciated.

JJ, I have a question for you, if you don't respond here I will pm you.thanks
On that maxon pump unit I have off a liftgate, It has two ports coming out of it, I plugged the one with the smaller hose on it, the "B" port I think. It also has 3 electromagnetic solonoids on it, one over each port and one on the side, I figured the one on the side is to lower the unit. I can get it to raise up (with only the motor energized), and I had to energize the A sol. and the one on the side to get it to go down, does that sound about right?

I thought maybe the A sol needed to be hot to lift and then just the side one to lower.

Another question, is there any way to speed up the lowering speed? It is slow as all getout.

Gravity down is going to be slow unless you have a load. There may be an adjustment for the lowering speed.

I am not that familiar with the lift gate units. I have played around with one or two versions. I did not have a manual either.

Look to see if there is a flow-limiter in the return path. On my Genie
Lift, there is a 1GPM piston-type flow limiter. Also look for a flow
restrictor that uses a small orifice, which can be enlarged.

I also have a TommyLift power-pack, but it is all mechanical, while the
Genie's uses solenoid valves. Both units are made by Fenner.

would you have any idea where the flow limiter might be located? It did have a couple of things on it that had thumb screws , I did away with those. After getting quite a bit of the framework done (read added a lot of weight) it actualy comes down about the same as my brothers boughten trailer.

On my Meyer snow plow pump (electric over hydraulic) there is a set screw under a cap on the rear that you can adjust to lower the plow faster or slower. On the unit I have for the trailer, there are three, (two on one side and one on the other) allen head caps/plugs, I wonder if there is an adjustment under one of these?
Thanks for the input.

It makes sense that if you have adjustable flow restrictors, they are on
the valve body. I did not see any for my TommyLift power pack. On my
Genie, it was a separate valve attached to one of the ports on the cylinder.
On JD loaders I have had, they are fittings attached between the loader
cylinder and one of their hoses. Assembled, you could not tell what they
were. Here is my Genie restrictor.
